M-61 (MICHIGAN HIGHWAY)

'M-61' is a state trunkline in Michigan. It was designated first along a portion of its current alignment n the 1920s.
:''Historical Notes'': Until 1940, there was no M-61 between Harrison and Gladwin, and only 6 miles of the 40 mile stretches was paved.[2] Also, M-61 originally turned north near Temple, then west through Marion to US 131 (Mackinaw Trail) near Tustin. In 1959, M-61's designation was removed between M-115 and US 131, and in 1974, a new 2-lane M-61 was constructed from Temple to M-115, bypassing Marion.
