The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) provides commuter and inner harbor boat services on Boston Harbor. The services are actually operated by private sector companies under contract to the MBTA.
At the time of writing, the following MBTA boat services were operated:

★ The F1 commuter service from Rowes Wharf in downtown Boston to Hingham, operated by Boston Harbor Cruises.

★ The F2 and F2H commuter services from Long Wharf in downtown Boston to Logan International Airport, Hull and Quincy, operated by Harbor Express.

★ The F4 inner harbor service from Long Wharf in downtown Boston to the Boston Navy Yard in Charlestown, operated by Boston Harbor Cruises.
It should be noted that other boat services operate in Boston Harbor, but are not marketed under the MBTA banner. These include fast passenger ferries to Provincetown and Salem, ferries to the islands of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area, water taxis and cruise boats.
