MADELYN

'Madelyn' is one of the many successful bands to come out of the South Florida scene. With five very diverse members, the band is known for their original sound, combining pop, rock, electronica, and metal into one. Though the band members are each highly individual and unique, their shared love for making music bond the group together. Recently named MTVU's Artist of the Week, and even making it to one of the Top 5 bands in the Best Music on Campus contest for a one million dollar record deal with Epic Records, their popularity is increasing exponentially. They also won the 2006 Taste of Chaos "Battle of the Bands" for the chance to play Warped Tour on February 26, 2006 in Miami at the Pompano Beach Ampitheatre. Madelyn was selected to play Warped Tour after they were chosen based on votes cast by their fans on the Taste of Chaos website. With the band's growing popularity, they are quickly taking over the music scene.

History

The members of the band Madelyn found each other through the demise of previous bands in 2004. And with the addition of a new drummer, Ben Nelson, the band is now more popular than ever before. For the past two years, Madelyn has written and recorded a full length album, ''"Entertain Me"'', as well as their four song EP called "The Gift". During the winter 2007, the band took several trips to Fort Wayne, Indiana to complete the recording of their brand new album. Surviving the hardships from their travels, as described in their blogs on MySpace, they completed recording by March and with minor editing to do, they are almost set to release it. The band's latest efforts have really shown the full potential of Madelyn by creating their best material to date. Songs such as "Mind over Me" and "Monday Girl" show their unique sound of pop/retro. Madelyn also has a soft side, seen in their deeply emotional song "All in All", depicting troubled times. Madelyn gains experience and popularity through each live performance that they do in South Florida. Headlining in popular South Florida venues such as The Culture Room, as well as opening in The Social in Orlando, Florida, the band is well on its way to continue what they love to do: writing music and performing the music they dedicate their lives to while building up the fan base that they appreciate so much.

Musical Style

Madelyn takes pride in its extremely original sounds, best described as a combination of pop, rock, electronica, and metal. Since they sound so highly unique, it is hard to place them in a single category, but are popularly described as pop/rock. With influences as diverse as Jimmy Eat World, John Secada, and Iron Maiden, Madelyn is like nothing a listener has ever heard before.
