MAGGIEMOO'S ICE CREAM AND TREATERY
(Redirected from MaggieMoo\'s)
'MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery' is a chain of franchised stores specialising in ice cream and other dessert specialties, with 184 stores in 36 states and Puerto Rico, all indepenently owned and operated. A subsidiary of NexCen Brands, Inc., the company's general headquarters is based in Columbia, Maryland.
The first MaggieMoo's opened in 1989 in Kansas City, Missouri.
It has won five blue ribbon awards by National Ice Cream Retailer's Association – Vanilla, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and Strawberry – and is 416th on ''Entrepreneur Magazine''’s ranking of the top 500 franchise opportunities in 2007.
The company already is developing another 150 stores, with projected sales at $50 million for 2006.
MaggieMoo's originally had stores in Bangkok, Thailand, but later closed. MaggieMoo's currently has no plans for further international expansion.
Like its direct competitor Cold Stone Creamery, and sister chain Marble Slab Creamery, it serves a unique premium ice cream blend containing 12 percent or more of butterfat, by mixing in various treats into the ice cream -- brownies, Snickers, Heath bar, sprinkles, fudge, etc. -- on a frozen granite slab.
The granite slab technique is unlike the processes used at other ice cream chains such as Baskin Robbins, Ben & Jerry's, Häagen-Dazs, etc., where they serve ice cream with simple toppings such as crushed cookies and sprinkles.
The spokescow is Miss Maggie Moo.
MaggieMoo's was featured on an episode of a Food Network's ''Unwrapped'' episode, "Cakewalk", where host Marc Summers showed a look behind-the-scenes at MaggieMoo's ice cream cupcakes, a recent addition to the menu.
