MAGOG, QUEBEC
'Magog' is a small city in southeastern Quebec, Canada at the confluence of Lake Memphremagog, with the Rivière au Saumon and the Magog River in the Regional County Municipality of Memphremagog. In 2002 the City of Magog was merged with the Township of Magog and the Village of Omerville as part of the municipal reorganization in Quebec.
For several generations it was a one-industry textile manufacturing town, where Texmade linens were produced. While the main plant is still there, Magog has become the centre of a resort area, with shops and services catering to vacationers and tourists.
According to the 2006 Statistics Canada Census, the population of Magog is 23,880, up from an 22,474 (adjusted for the 2002 boundary change) in 2001.
