MAMBALAM


'Mambalam' is a commercial area in Chennai, India, that is known for many trading activities especially on the textiles and jewellery business.
It is famous for its Ranganathan Street, one of the busiest place in the city, very crowded with people. Only rarely is the street fully vacant, that is possible only in the late nights, even at that time, there are some hawkers packing their road-side shops.
Mambalam is known for the Siva-Vishnu Temple (near Ranganathan Street) where Lord Siva and Vishnu are worshipped. The area is known for shops like Saravana Stores, Pothys, RmKV, Chennai Silks and Jeyachandran along with veterans in the Textile business like Nalli & Kumaran Textiles.
Many leading journalists like Goteti Venkateswara Rao,'Media Voice'Venkat Raj and T.K.V.Rajan are residents of West Mambalam.
