The 'Margraviate of Landsberg' () was a
march of the
Holy Roman Empire that existed from the
12th to the
14th century. It was named after Landsberg Castle, near
Landsberg, Saxony-Anhalt. It was located between the rivers
Saale and
Elbe.
The margraviate was split off from the
Eastern March in
1156 and was held by the
House of Wettin. In
1291, it was sold to
Brandenburg, and in
1327 it was inherited by
Brunswick-Lüneburg. In
1347, it was purchased by the
Margraviate of Meissen, and in this way it fell back to the House of Wettin.
