MARINER HIGH SCHOOL (CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA)

'Mariner High School' is located in Cape Coral, Florida in the Lee County School District and is home to the Mariner Fighting Tritons. The school is located at 701 Chiquita Blvd. N. in Northern Cape Coral, Florida. The school's students come mainly from Cape Coral, the neighboring villages on Pine Island, and North Fort Myers. The school opened in 1986 and moved into its current facility for the 1987-1988 school year. Mariner is recognized for its various programs dealing with the Arts (music, theatre, drawing/painting/ceramics, photography, etc.)
In 2006, Mariner was awarded a grade of "C"[1]. The school has one of the lowest dropout rates in the State of Florida, has had 11 Congressional Grand Art Award Winners, is home to the 4-time state champion Silver Magic Marching Band (SMMB), a highly ranked Color Guard, and the reigning Florida State and WGI National Champion Silver Magic Indoor Drum Line. The Mariner Triton Thespian Theatre competes in regional competitions and completes a full season of plays, dinner shows, and talent shows for the enjoyment of the community.
The Mariner Law Team also is consistently ranked. Law classes allow students to learn about laws, law enforcement, local lawyers, and judges. Students also meet law enforcement officers. Mariner Law Classes are taught in a courtroom classroom which was donated to the school by the makers of the film ''Just Cause'' starring Sean Connery, which was filmed in Southwest Florida.
Mariner Triton Athletics compete in several different sports, such as football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, and cross country.
Country music star Tracy Lawrence shot parts of his music video, titled "Alibies"[2], with a few students from Mariner in the hallways of the school in 1993.
The marching band won 4th place at the Bands of America (BOA) regional competition in 2004.

Cape Coral High School - The Seahawks are Mariner's main cross-town/west region rival.
North Fort Myers High School - The Red Knights are the second school in Mariner's region, and the closest rival of Mariner's Silver Magic Marching Band.
Fort Myers Senior High School - The Green Wave are the county's oldest high school and the school Mariner most closely competes with academically.
Ida S. Baker High School - The Bulldogs are Cape Coral's newest high school and a developing west region rival.
Charlotte High School - The Tarpons are the closest Charlotte County High School to Mariner, and the football and baseball games between the schools are always enjoyable. Their marching band is a rival to Mariner's.
