MARIO FRICK (FOOTBALLER)

(Redirected from Mario Frick (football player))

'Mario Frick' (born September 7, 1974 in Chur, Switzerland) is a football player (primarily a striker) from Liechtenstein, who holds the record for being their national side's all time top goalscorer, with 11 goals.
He started his career at FC Balzers, but has really made a name for himself in Italy, being the first Liechtensteiner to play abroad (has also played in Austria and Switzerland). He has established himself as a key player in the Liechtenstein national football team, however, his manager at the time fell out with the national coach Ralf Loose at the end of the 2002 World Cup qualification stages, and he was left out of the team. After the change in coach, Frick returned to be part of the squad playing in both games against England. After Ternana's relegation from Serie B, Frick moved to A.C. Siena (Serie A) in July 2006 where he was temporarily top goalscorer in Serie A.

★ He is half Swiss and he currently weighs 78.7 kg (12.4 stone).

★ It is thought that he once considered retiring from the sport altogether in the year 2003, for personal reasons. However it is believed that the real reason arose from an incident earlier that year, when a masked man, armed with a crowbar, broke into his home and threatened Mario and his family.
