MARK BURNETT
'Mark Burnett' (born 17 July, 1960) is a British television producer. He is known for introducing reality television as a genre to the USA. He produced the USA version of the series ''Survivor'' and the ''Eco-Challenge''. ''Survivor'' is the most watched summer series since ''Sonny and Cher''. His eponymous production company setup ''The Apprentice'', ''The Restaurant'', ''The Casino'', ''Rock Star'', ''Combat Missions'', ''The Contender'', ''Martha Stewart'', ''Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?'', and ''Pirate Master''. He is collaborating with Steven Spielberg on a FOX show titled ''On the Lot'', which will grant one out of 16 contestants an exclusive Hollywood deal with DreamWorks and Spielberg.[1] The show premiered in May 2007.
Burnett has won two Emmy Awards.
The New York Times reported on April 25, 2007 that in 2008, he will produce a show entitled ''Independent'' in which players will compete for $1,000,000 with which to finance an independent bid for the United States presidency. Variety.com reports ([1]) the show will be hosted by MySpace.com.

Early life
Mark Burnett, an only child, was born in London, United Kingdom. From 1978 to 1982 he served with the British Army in Northern Ireland and took part in the Falklands War. In 1982, Burnett moved to Los Angeles, U.S., and for the next decade held a variety of jobs, including a nanny in Beverly Hills and selling t-shirts in Venice Beach.
