MARKET MALL

'Market Mall' is one of the largest malls (by area) in Calgary, Alberta (900,490 square feet / 83,658.3 m²). It is located in Varsity, a suburban neighborhood in the City's northwest quadrant on Shaganappi Trail. The mall is owned by Cadillac Fairview, one of Canada's largest real estate property managers and developers.
Originally opened in 1971, the mall underwent major expansions in 1988 and 2004. The latest expansion saw the addition of the South wing, an underground parkade, a larger food court, and a complete renovation of the existing centre. The new area has many new and more popular stores that in some cases are entirely new to Calgary. The centre utilizes a one level 'racetrack' layout, or figure eight.
H&M Hennes & Mauritz selected Market Mall for its first Calgary store, which opened May 10, 2007. Sephora will also be opening in July 2007, launching that company's foray into Western Canada, along with Sephora's Western Canada district office, which will be located at the mall's professional centre.
