MARY IMMACULATE COLLEGE, LIMERICK

'Mary Immaculate College' (also known as Mary I) has been linked to the University of Limerick since 1991, a link it retains today. It is located to the south of the city, roughly a fifteen minute walk from the Limerick bus and train station.
Formerly a dedicated primary teacher training college, it expanded in 1992 to offfer a Liberal Arts programme, while continuing to run both undergraduate and, more recently, postgraduate courses leading to primary education practice with a Roman Catholic ethos. The college has also developed resources for masters and doctoral research postgraduate programmes in a variety of liberal arts disciplines. The college also offers an Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) degree. Mature students are particularly welcome to the college with about 15% of students on campus being mature students, a relatively high figure. Particular provision is also made in all of the college's programmes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, students with disabilities, travellers and ethnic minorities.
The Arts subject currently offered at degree level are English, French, Gaeilge, Geography, German, History, Leánn Dúchais (first year only), Mathematics and Computer Studies, Media and Communication Studies, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, and Theology and Religious Studies.
The college also has a radio station, Wired FM, Limerick's only student station which it runs in cooperation with another Limerick college, Limerick Institute of Technology.
