MARYLAND ROUTE 450

'Maryland Route 450' is a Maryland state highway that runs from northeast of Annapolis to just outside of Washington, DC in Bladensburg. Route 450 begins as part of Governor Ritchie Highway just south of its intersection with U.S. Route 50, U.S. Route 301, and Maryland Route 2. It ends at its intersection with U.S. Route 1.
Route 450 overtook the former alignment of U.S. 50 as the new segments of that road were completed.

According to Mike Pruett at MDRoads.com, and Google Maps, Route 450 follows Ritchie Highway into Annapolis, crosses the Severn River on the US Naval Academy Bridge, follows a short section called Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard past the US Naval Academy, and then follows King George Street, College Avenue, and around Church Circle before following West Street out of the city proper. Route 450 then follows Defense Highway from near the Annapolis Mall until its intersection with Maryland Route 3 in Crofton. The two roads overlap for less then a mile as they cross from Anne Arundel County over to Prince Georges County before 450 veers off as Annapolis Road towards Bowie, New Carrollton, Landover Hills, and finally its terminus in Bladensburg.

Notes

Before the construction of the John Hanson Highway, MD 450's current concurrency with MD 3 would have been a concurrency of US 50 and US 301. US Routes 50 and 301 currently share a much longer concurrency along parts of the John Hanson Highway and Blue Star Memorial Highway.
