'Matt Cooper' is a journalist and presenter from Cork in Ireland. He is a former editor of the ''Sunday Tribune'', appointed in September 1996, as well as a former business editor of the ''Irish Independent''. Then aged 30, he was the youngest person in Ireland to be appointed an editor of a national newspaper. He was awarded Business Journalist of the Year in 1992 and 1999 and also National Journalist of the Year in 1993 and 2001. He is a graduate of Dublin City University. Currently, he presents the news review show ''The Last Word'' on Today FM from 4:30 to 7:00 every weekday evening. He writes a weekly column for the Irish Examiner and one for the Irish Sunday Times.
During the run up to the Irish General Election 2007, Cooper and his colleague Eddie Hobbs presented a political programme called "Polls Apart" on Irish tv station TV3, in which they interview the main Irish Political Parties' leaders about what they intend to due after the election, if they were to be deemed elected into government.
Cooper is an avid supporter of Leeds United F.C, and a music fan of the rock band Radiohead.
