MATTY B

'Matty B' is an Australian MC based in Perth, Western Australia.
Matty B has a smooth free-flowing style and raps in an Australian accent. Matty B is a member of the Syllaboliks hip hop Crew, which comprises fellow Australian hip hop artists from Perth. He is currently signed to the Obese Records record label. Though rhyming since the 1980s, Matty only began working on tracks when Syllaboliks came together in 1999^[1].
Being a former top surfer in the late 1990s, in 2001 he performed at the Margaret River Masters Concert, which saw his songs appear on surfing and other extreme sports videos. In 2002 he performed at the Big Day Out concerts^[2].
Matty B first got noticed on the groundbreaking ''Culture Of Kings'' compilation in 2000 with his track "Courageous". This led to his debut album ''The Courageous'', released in 2002, with tracks like "A.D.I", "Reconciliation" and "Fridays" receiving airplay from the national broadcaster Triple J, which is part of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "Fridays" appearing on the Triple J's 2005 album ''Super Request - Dog's Breakfast'', a compliation of songs that were consistently the most frequently requested on Triple J's Super Request program ^[3].
Four years on Matty B relocated to the Gold Coast and delivered his second release ''Simple But Effective'', which including contributions from fellow Syllaboliks Crew members, Downsyde, Optamus and Dazastah, as well as one track from Clandesteins Mortar. Tracks like "I'm A Joke", "Simple But Effective" and "Aussie Weekender" again receiving airplay on Triple J ^[4].
