MAWSON INTERCHANGE, ADELAIDE
'Mawson Interchange' is a railway station and bus interchange in the new, developing suburb of Mawson Lakes, north of Adelaide, South Australia. The Interchange serves nearby residential and commercial developments and also the Mawson Lakes campus of the University of South Australia and Technology Park.
Mawson Interchange is on the Gawler railway line. 14.3 km from Adelaide Railway Station. It opened on 26 February 2006 and is the first new railway station to be built in Adelaide for more than 20 years (since the extension of the Noarlunga Centre line).
As development in the area continues, Mawson Interchange is expected to become one of Adelaide's five busiest stations. There is no staffed ticket office, but it has been designated a ''Safer Station'' with enhanced lighting, CCTV surveillance and security help phones provided. A kiosk is open during business hours selling food, drinks and tickets etc. A lounge area is also provided with seating providing a comfortable place to sit with heating and cooling available.

Rail and Bus Services
All rail services are provided by TransAdelaide using diesel railcars. All northbound trains depart from Platform 1 and continue to Salisbury, Gawler or Gawler Central. Southbound trains depart from Platform 2 and terminate at Adelaide.
Trains to and from Adelaide and Gawler operate every 30 minutes at off-peak times on Monday to Friday, and through the day on Saturday and Sunday. Before 11am and after 2pm on weekdays, the frequency is increased to four trains per hour in each direction. Services are more frequent in peak hours. In the evening, trains run every hour.
Local buses from Mawson Interchange are scheduled to connect with train arrivals and departures and use the Adelaide Metro ticketing system, which allows free transfer between buses and trains within time limits. Bus services are currently operated by SouthLink and Torrens Transit under contract to the S.A. Government’s Office of Public Transport.
