MAYBE BABY (SONG)
'Maybe Baby' was originally recorded by Buddy Holly and The Crickets in 1958. It was written by Norman Petty and 'Charles Hardin' and reached 17th in the US charts but 4th in the UK charts (where Holly toured that year) - see Buddy Holly discography.
The rather simple lyrics (eg verse 1:-
:Maybe Baby, I'll have you
:Maybe Baby, you'll be true
:Maybe Baby, I'll have you for me )
are augmented by a characteristic twangy percussive accompaniment, especially in the 8-bar instrumental introduction.
On the sound-track for the British film of the same name (see Maybe Baby) the song is covered by Paul McCartney
