MCCRACKEN
'McCracken' is a surname of Scottish descent. There are, however, McCrackens in Canada whose ancestors emigrated from Ireland. It is likely, though, that their forebears had emigrated to Ireland from Scotland. The origin may be a splinter of the Scottish MacNaghten family, which became prominent in southern Scotland. Many American McCrackens can be traced to Alexander McCracken, a settler of Virginia.
