MEN WITH BROOMS
(Redirected from Men With Brooms)
'''Men with Brooms''' (2002) is a Canadian movie centered around the sport of curling.
In the movie, Chris Cutter (played by Paul Gross) is the skip of a recently reunited curling team from a small Canadian town. The offbeat comedy follows the team as they work through their respective life issues and struggle to win the championship for the sake of their late coach.
The cast also includes Connor Price, Leslie Nielsen, Peter Outerbridge, Kari Matchett, Molly Parker and Polly Shannon. The Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip also make a cameo appearance in the film as a competing rink.
Much of the movie was filmed in Brampton; see Brampton Fall Fair. Some outdoor scenes were filmed in Greater Sudbury.
This is believed to be the first feature film ever made focusing on the sport of curling. It is, however, regarded by some curlers as an embarrassment because the portrayal of curling is so poor. Furthermore, the final curling shot, in particular, serves its cinematic purpose but is not even remotely possible.
A soundtrack album was also released, as well as a novelization:
