'Metaponto' is a small town of about a 1000 people in the province of Matera, Basilicata, Italy. Administratively it is a frazione of Bernalda.
The Temple of Hera

The town is best known for the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Metapontum. A 1 km stretch of beach with white powdery sand is a further tourist attraction.
