MIGUEL PINANGO
'Miguel J. Pinango ' (born January 20, 1983 in Santa Lucia, Venezuela ) is a right-handed pitcher in Minor League Baseball who currently plays in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s.
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Mets as a 16-year old on July 17 1999 and started his professional career by playing in the Venezuelan Summer League for the Mets. Because he was so young when he signed, he spent six years in the low minors with the Mets, playing for Kingsport, Brooklyn, Capital City and St. Lucie. His best statistical year was in 2003 with Capital City, where he went 13-6, 3.47 era in 23 starts with 3 complete games and 106 strikeouts with only 24 walks. [1]
In 2006, he was promoted to the Binghamton Mets where he pitched a no-hitter against Portland on July 23 2006. [2] [3]
He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a minor league free agent prior to the 2007 season and, after a brief stop with the Inland Empire 66ers he was promoted to the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. He is known as a hard worker with an excellent changeup. [4]
