MIRAMAS

'Miramas' is a ''commune'' in the ''département'' of Bouches-du-Rhône and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. It is the second-largest component ''commune'' of the metropolitan Syndicat d'agglomération nouvelle Ouest-Provence, and is located at the north end of the Étang de Berre lagoon, adjacent to and northeast of the city of Istres. In the 1999 census, Miramas had a population of 22,526. The commune has a land area of 25.74 km² (9.938 sq mi).
