MIRROR SYNDROME
'Mirror syndrome' is a rare disorder affecting pregnant women. It is caused by fetal symptoms related to fluid retention, including ascites (excess peritoneal fluid) and polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid). Its name reflects the fact that symptoms in the mother reflect symptoms in the fetus, and it presents significant risk to both. Treatments include delivery of the fetus.
