MITSUTERU YOKOYAMA
was a famous Japanese manga artist. His works include ''Gigantor'', ''Giant Robo'', ''Akakage'', ''Babel II'', ''Sally, the Witch'', ''Princess Comet'' and an adaptation of the ''wuxia'' novel ''Outlaws of the Marsh''.
Yokoyama's lifework was the sixty volumes ''Sangokushi'', a retelling of the ''Romance of the Three Kingdoms'', published from 1971 to 1986 in Ushio Shuppansha's ''Comic Tom''. In 1991, an animated version was broadcast on TV Tokyo and the manga recognized by the Japan Cartoonist Association.[1]
Yokoyama died in a fire at his home in Tokyo. He was found unconscious in bed with severe burns and died 16 hours later at a hospital near his home.[2]
