MOBILE STATION INTEGRATED SERVICES DIGITAL NETWORK
In 3GPP terminology, 'MSISDN' (Mobile Subscriber ISDN Number) refers to the telephone number of a mobile subscriber. The MSISDN follows the numbering plan defined in the ITU-T recommendation E.164.
The abbreviation 'MSISDN' stands for Mobile Station International ISDN Number (where ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network).
While the above looks like it contradicts itself by saying MS stands for Mobile Subscriber and that MS stands for Mobile Station both are in fact correct, depending on the context. Also note that the MSISDN # is not always the telephone number.
