MODULAR RECORDINGS


'Modular Records' is an Australian independent record label. It was established by Sydney-based music promoter Steve Pavlovic as a joint-venture with EMI, but is now distributed (and half-owned)[1] by Universal Music in Australia. Modular has released recordings by local artists such as Eskimo Joe, Midnight Juggernauts, Ben Lee, The Avalanches, Wolfmother, Cut Copy, The Bumblebeez, Van She, Rocket Science, Ghostwood and The Presets, as well as local releases of international artists including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Chromeo, Colder, Klaxons ( The EP Xan Valleys), New Young Pony Club, MSTRKRFT, and The Softlightes

History


Founded in 1998 by Sydney concert promoter Steve Pavlovic. The label came to most people’s attention on 2001, when they released Australian sample-based electronica act The Avalanches' debut album ''Since I Left You.''
In 2005 a London office was opened overseen by Phil Hutcheon.
Van She, a new wave electropop four piece from Sydney were signed in August 2005.[2] Mid 2006 modular signed London’s New Young Pony Club. Offices in New York and Los Angeles opened in 2006 and 2007 respectively, both overseen by North American head Adam "Hollywood" Hobbs.
