'Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College' (Often simply referred to as 'Monte Sant' Angelo' or 'Monte') is a Roman Catholic, day school for girls, located in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the oldest independent girls school on Sydney's North Shore, founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1875.
The College is a member of the Association of Heads of Independent Girls' Schools (AHIGS).
Starting from 2007, it will feature the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) program. Monte will be the first Catholic Girls school in Sydney to offer this program.

History


Monte was established on the corner of West and Carlow Streets, North Sydney, by Mother Ignatius McQuoin in 1875. By 1879 the school had outgrown the original site and subsequently moved to its current location in Miller Street, North Sydney.
The school has been owned by the Sisters of Mercy since its foundation.
