MOORESTOWN HIGH SCHOOL

'Moorestown High School' is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Moorestown Township in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Moorestown Township Public Schools. Moorestown High School was established in 1904.[1]

For the 1999-2000 school year, Moorestown High School was awarded the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education[2], the highest award an American school can receive.[3][4]
Moorestown High School was the 63rd-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in ''New Jersey Monthly'' magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's ''Top Public High Schools''.[5]

Athletics



★ Moorestown High School's Girls Lacrosse Team has been dominant over the last seven years in the State of New Jersey. They have won 148 straight games against New Jersey teams and from 2000 to the present are 159-4. The girls lacrosse team won the 2007 Group III State Championship with a 20-4 win vs. West Morris Central High School.[6] The team moved on to win the Tournament of Champions, defeating Lenape High School 14-2 in the semifinals and West Morris Mendham High School 16-6 in the finals, to win the tournament crown.[7]

★ Kevin Kirkby was inducted into the Saint Joseph's University Baseball Hall of Fame. Kirkby was named as a 3rd-team All-American in 2001; 1st team Academic All-American in 2000 and 2001; and holds 14 season or career school records.[8]

★ Albert Young is currently the all time leading rusher in South Jersey (5,411 yards).[9]

★ The boys tennis team won the 2007 Central, Group III state sectional championship with a series of 5-0 wins over Lawrence High School, West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North, and ultimately Princeton High School in the tournament final.[10] The team moved on to win the 2007 NJSIAA Group III State Championship, defeating Millburn High School 3-2 in the final meet.[11] The team then proceeded to the Tournament of champions where they lost against rival, Newark Academy in the semifinals.[12]

★ In 2007, the boys swimming team won the Central B state sectional title with a 120-50 win against Ocean Township High School in the tournament final.[13]

★ The 2003 field hockey team won the Group III State championship with a 1-0 win over Kingsway Regional High School in the semifinals and a 2-1 win against Warren Hills High School in the tournament's final match.[14] The 2004 team repeated as Group III champion, defeating Mount Olive High School in the tournament final.[15]

★ The 2001 boys tennis team won the South, Group II state sectional title with a 3-2 win against Haddonfield Memorial High School in the tournament final.[16][17]

Blair Hornstine gained national attention in the summer of 2003, when she was told that she would share valedictorian honors at Moorestown High School with another classmate. Hornstine sued to be sole valedictorian and won, although she did not attend her graduation ceremony.[18] Hornstine's admission to Harvard University was revoked in early July after reporters discovered that she plagiarized parts of some columns she wrote for the "Static" section of ''The Courier-Post'', a local newspaper.

Dave Robinson, NFL Linebacker who played for the Green Bay Packers in the 1960s.[19]

Ronii (born Ron Bailey), a musician/producer who wrote music for an album with Joe Stonestreet, formerly of the multiplatinum selling group Blackstreet and was an in house producer at Sigma Sound Studios, a famous Philadelphia recording studio.

William H. Kingston, the noted Moorestown historian and resident. He currently resides in Moorestown and teaches at Moorestown High.
