MORT KüNSTLER
'Mort Künstler' (born 1931) is an American painter known as 'the premier historical artist in America'. Since the 1980s he has focused his art on the American Civil War which he is probably best known for.

Künstler's artwork features dramatic interpretations of American historical events, namely, the American Civil War. Künstler's paintings are painted using oil paints on canvas.
They are reproduced in limited amounts, and can be purchased as such at various art shows, and through the internet. His artwork was also featured in an illustrated version of ''Gods and Generals''.

Kunstler's artwork is often featured on It's Academic as part of a question asked to contestants.
His first civil war print was produced in the summer of 1988.Many of his paintings were used as concept ideas for the movie Gettysburg.His first works and the others until the middle '90s,were published by the American Print Gallery in Gettysburg,Pa. His current publisher is American Spirit Publishing in Oyster Bay, New York. His original paintings can be found at the Hammer Galleries in New York City.
