Geography
Munster is found in the central Lüneburg Heath region along the river ''Örtze'' between the towns Soltau and Uelzen. Munster is also home of the largest military base in Germany which is used as a practice range. Due to the number of restricted areas of the military base many rare species can found in this area.
History
The first recorded mention of Munster was in 1303. A Prussian army unit used the area as a field of practice in 1893. The Bundeswehr built a base in Munster in 1956 which was largest in Germany by 1990.
