MURRAY SCHOOL DISTRICT

'Murray School District' is a public school district located in Murray, Utah. It was created on January 1, 1906 after a proclamation issued on July 1, 1905 designated Murray as "second class," meaning that it could then provide for its own education. The district is governed by five members of the Board of Education.
Murray School District covers fewer square miles than any of the state's 40 school districts. It is, however, the 14th largest in number of students enrolled.^[1] Other school districts in the area include Jordan School District (the largest), Granite School District and Salt Lake City School District.

★ The Accelerated Reader Program has greatly increased the amount that Murray students read. A variety of incentives make students eager to complete the
books and tests. It is operating in all Murray schools with the exception of Murray High.

★ Swimming lessons are given to all third graders in Murray. Even the most timid students learn to rescue themselves in deep water.

★ Most fifth and sixth graders receive ice-skating lessons at Murray City Park.

★ A wide variety of before and after school programs are available through the Murray Community Learning Center at each school.

★ A junior high transition program helps sixth graders make the adjustment to secondary schools.
