NHL PLUS/MINUS AWARD
The 'NHL Plus-Minus Award' is awarded annually to the player in the National Hockey League that leads the league in plus/minus.
The award was first given in the 1983 season (as the "Emery Edge Plus-Minus Award") and is sponsored by commercial businesses. It has had numerous sponsors over the years and is currently known as the '''Bud Light'' Plus-Minus Award'.
Since the award's inception, it has been won by Edmonton Oilers 4 times, and Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, and Detroit Red Wings 3 times each. Since the league began tracking plus/minus as a statistic (counting co-leaders as fractional winners), Boston Bruins have led the league 7 times, Edmonton Oilers 5 times, and Philadelphia Flyers 4.5 times.
