NO$GBA

'NO$GBA' (No Cash Game Boy Advance) is a Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS emulator for Microsoft Windows and MS-DOS that features multiplayer support.
''NO$GBA'' is currently the fastest working GBA emulator, as it can run most games at full speed on a computer with an Intel Pentium or faster processor. This is due to it being written entirely in 80x86 assembly. It is also the only working GBA or NDS emulator for MS-DOS.
Unlike other GBA or NDS emulators, such as the more popular VisualBoyAdvance, ''NO$GBA'' can accurately display colors as they appear on the GBA's, GBA SP's or NDS' LCD screens, and also it is the only emulator to support emulating a GBA cartridge in use on a NDS, since other emulators use mutually exclusive emulation.
Currently, NO$GBA is one of the few NDS emulators able to emulate many commercial games without major flaws.

Limitations

NO$GBA lacks support for certain GBA games, such as the Classic NES Series. However, the emulator can still run the vast majority, and the developer is constantly trying to find sources for the originals of software and hardware that is not supported.
Additionally, the emulator does not fully support 3D rendering on NDS emulation and may contain transparency graphical errors in some parts of the games emulated. The emulator also does not support window resizing when emulating NDS ROMs. The emulator is quite CPU intensive and needs a good computer to run smoothly. From version 2.4b the emulator has very basic WiFi support.
It has also a multiplayer function.

History

No$GBA started as No$GB, an early Gameboy emulator. It progresed slowly to full emulation of the Gameboy products, and later started being developed to emulate the Gameboy Advance, being renamed No$GBA. Though other emulators reached full compatibility with commercial games first, No$GBA continued advancing and managed to be the first with multiplayer support for GBA.
It then started being developed as a Nintendo DS emulator, and continued where other NDS emulators stopped. Its progress as a NDS emulator has progressed as follows:
No$gba v2.2 contains some NDS emulation support.
No$gba v2.3 contains almost full NDS emulation support including 3D.
No$gba v2.3a now also contains NDS sound emulation.
No$gba v2.3b couple of bug fixes and details.
No$gba v2.3c some important nds-related additions/fixes.
No$gba v2.3d adds microphone support, 3d video improvements, full dos-dpmi compatibilty, and more programming specs.
No$gba v2.4 skinning support and more.
No$gba v2.4a fixes a newly discoverd adpcm sound bug...
No$gba v2.4b basic DS Wifi emulation (
★ ), and full GBA e-Reader emulation
No$gba v2.4c some final details (mainly GUI and e-Reader related)
No$gba v2.4d lots of new info on wifi and ds-lite
No$gba v2.4e supports nds cheats like codebreaker and actionreplay and 3d open gl renderer
(
★ ) no$gba/wifi can send/receive packets, commercial programs are still getting stuck somewhere in transmission. NEW in v2.4d: Pictochat is now successfully exchanging authentication and associations requests and responses. After that, on real hardware, the host should immediately send data frames (via port 090h presumably), in no$gba, the host doesn't send any such data frames for whatever reason (only the client does, via port 094h). Info on fixing that problem would be highly welcome. Built-in help text (in debug ver) contains almost complete wifi specs now.
