NARRABUNDAH, AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY

'Narrabundah' (postcode: 2604) is a suburb of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Narrabundah is an aboriginal place name for the area. Streets in Narrabundah are named after indigenous names, explorers and pioneers.
Narrabundah is bordered by the residential suburb of Red Hill to the west, Griffith to the north, the industrial area of Fyshwick to the east and undeveloped bushland and green fields to the south.
Narrabundah is home to two primary schools, Narrabundah Primary and St. Benedict's Primary School. It is also home to the exclusive Narrabundah College. The Narrabundah parish was the name in the nineteenth century of most of South Canberra and Woden, although not the modern suburb itself.

Rocks in Narrabundah are from the Silurian age.
Mount Painter Volcanics dark grey to green grey dacitic tuff. This can be viewed in a park on Brockman St.
Canberra Formation, calcareous shale is in the north of the Deakin Fault.
Narrabundah Ashstone Member is found in the east and southeast of the suburb.
The Deakin Fault runs from Frome St, it is displaced from Anembo south to Goyder St.
The South Fyshwick Fault runs east from the Narrabundah Primary School, separating ashstone in the south from
the Canberra Formation in the north.

Amenities

Narrabundah is an established garden suburb. Parks are widespread, with Rocky Knoll park and its panoramic view over Canberra a favourite. Local shops incorporate a Butcher, Indian Restaurant, Supermarket, Two Hairdressers, a Florist and a Modern Australian Restaurant. Nearby Griffith shops and Manuka are also popular.^[1]
