NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE


The 'National Museum of African American History and Culture' is a proposed Smithsonian museum, to be built on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.. The Smithsonian's Board of Regents has selected a site for the museum, located at the southwest corner of Constitution Avenue and 14th Street, NW, adjacent to the National Museum of American History.
The museum was established on December 19, 2003, through federal legislation. Lonnie G. Bunch has served as the museum's director since July 2005.
