NATIONAL REPUBLICAN GREEK LEAGUE

The 'National Republican Greek League' (, ''Ethnikos Dimokratikos Ellinikos Syndesmos'', abbreviated 'EDES') was a World War II Greek resistance movement.
Its core leadership were anti-communist, Venizelist and republican army officers, in contrast to the larger communist-affiliated ''National People's Liberation Army (ELAS)'' and its sister group, the non-military ''National Liberation Front (EAM)''. It was led by colonel Napoleon Zervas. An ideologically similar, but much smaller, group was the ''National and Social Liberation (EKKA)''.
