NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

::''For the university of the same name, see National University.''
A 'national university' is a university created or run by a national government. However, most such universities today are from government interference. Some national universities are closely associated with national cultural or political aspirations. For instance the National University of Ireland in the early days of Irish independence collected a large amount of information on the Irish language and Irish culture.
In South Korea, there are 10 major national universities, while in Japan there are 89 national universities.
