NAZA

'Naza Group' of Companies is a well known motor trading and property development company, which began operations in 1974 in Malaysia. Naza Group is the franchise holder for South Korea's Kia vehicles in Malaysia. Naza have rebadged Kia's Carnival and Carens vehicles as Naza Ria and Citra respectively for Malaysian market. The group is led by Nasimuddin Amin who is also the founder the company.
In April 2006, Naza developed the Naza Sutera based on Hafei Lobo. It was joined by a Naza-badged version of the Peugeot 206 called the Naza 206 Bestari in May 2006, and a Naza-badged version of the Kia Picanto in November 2006.

Criticisms

Naza is said to be kept afloat through Approved Permits (AP) issued by the government. Cars imported into Malaysia are subject to government import duty which can go up to 300% (3 times the price of the original car) and the Approved Permits allow an importer to bring the cars into Malaysia tax free.
Naza has been accused of using its governmental links to exploit this by acquiring thousands of these AP's and reselling them to other importers of automobiles.
