The 'New Generation Party – Christian Democratic' (''Partidul Noua Generaţie - Creştin Democrat'', PNGCD; formerly ''Partidul Noua Generaţie'', PNG) is a nationalist, Christian democratic political party in Romania. In the last legislative elections, on November 28, 2004, it won 2.2% of the popular vote but no seats in the Chamber of Deputies and Senate. Created in 2000 as a centrist grouping around former Mayor of Bucharest Viorel Lis, it was taken over in January 2004 by businessman Gigi Becali, who became its leader.

Controversies

The New Generation Party – Christian Democratic has been suspected of having links with the neo-fascist organization Noua Dreaptă (dedicated to an Iron Guard revival). A former advisor of Becali, Dan Pavel, stated that "it followed that people from Noua Dreaptă would become the "spinal cord" [foundation] of the New Generation Party."[1]
Noua Dreaptă denied any connection with PNG-CD and none of the leaders of Noua Dreaptă became a representative of PNG-CD.[2]
The New Generation Party has been described by the United States Department of State as an "extreme nationalist party"[3]
