History
NY 22A was part of a 1920s highway system called the New England Interstate Routes. The southern part NY 22A was part of New England Route 30 from its southern terminus to Poultney, Vermont via ''Granville Street'' (now locally maintained). The northern part of NY 22A from west of Poultney to the Vermont border was part of another route, Route 30A, which ran parallel and to the west of Route 30. The NY 22A designation was assigned sometime in the late 1940s soon after NY 22 was extended north of Granville.
