Route description

NY 250 begins at NY 96 as Moseley Road, a name it retains for four miles while intersecting with NY-31 near the Perinton Square Mall 2.4 miles to the north. The name is lost upon entering the village of Fairport where, at an intersection with Hulburt Road, it becomes South Main Street.
The lift bridge that carries Route 250 over the Erie Canal.

In Fairport, NY 250 intersects NY-31F before becoming North Main Street after crossing the Erie Canal. Upon crossing Whitney Road at the north border of the village, the route continues to the north as Fairport-Nine Mile Point Road.
Just over 1.5 miles north of Fairport, NY 250 intersects NY-441 at Lloyd's Corners in Penfield. After another two miles, NY 250 crosses over NY-286, its last major intersection before entering the village of Webster as Webster Road.
Now South Avenue, NY 250 becomes North Avenue after crossing over NY-404 in the center of Webster. Just to the north, NY 250 interchanges with the Rochester-Wayne County (NY-104) expressway. Outside of the village, NY 250 becomes Webster Road once again, the name it retains until its northern terminus at Lake Road in the town of Webster.

History

NY 250 used to be part of a concurrency with NY 31F through the village of Fairport. Until NY 31F was rerouted out of the village along East Church Street and Turk Hill Road, the route used to turn north at NY 250 and follow 250 through the village and across the Erie Canal, where it turned to the east onto High Street. NY 31F was realigned to its current alignment in 1982, eliminating the concurrency.
