NEW YORK STATE ROUTE 429
'New York State Route 429' is a state highway located entirely in Niagara County. It runs from North Tonawanda, New York in the south to NY 104 on the border between the towns of Cambria and Lewiston in the north.
Though relatively minor in length and numbering, 429 nevertheless enjoys regional importance and renown for not only connecting North Tonawanda and some of the county's interior regions but for the sweeping view it offers as it descends the Niagara Escarpment near its northern end.

Route description
Route 429 begins at a junction with NY 265 and NY 384 in downtown North Tonawanda, as Ward Road. Keeping this name, it leaves the city following a due north course, crossing US 62 in less developed, more rural areas of the Town of Wheatfield and continuing in that direction to Sanborn, where the 287 acre (116 km²) main campus of Niagara County Community College makes a striking departure from the rural fields that have predominated up to the NY 31 junction.
Past the college, at Pekin, 429 begins to follow the Lewiston-Cambria town line for the rest of its route, leading to a change of name to Town Line Road. It reaches a crest at Upper Mountain Road and then begins to descend the Niagara Escarpment. The Escarpment, a beach ridge that further west led to the formation of Niagara Falls eons ago. While it is the most important topographic feature in the county, no road descends it at such a dramatic point along its length as 429 does.
Here, on clear enough days, a wide panorama can be seen of the entire northern half of the county and Lake Ontario. Cars will frequently stop and slow if they are not familiar with the area, and at the ridgecrest the regionally popular restaurant, Schimschack's, enjoys excellent business all year due to the view its tables offer.
A mile north of the Escarpment, having descended 328 feet (100 m) from Pekin, Route 429 reaches its northern terminus at NY 104.
