NORTH ARM COVE, NEW SOUTH WALES

'North Arm Cove' is a small waterside hamlet on Port Stephens, New South Wales, Australia. It was considered to be the site of the national capital before Canberra was chosen and as a result has many dirt roads laid out in the bushland. Once populated with small houses the desirability of the area and the limited number of available homes has seen many mansions built and the rise of million dollar price tags. The area is home to kangaroos, wallabies and koalas. A Club Med resort was to be built however local objection has halted the plan.

Up until the early 1970s the Australian Army conducted regular exercises in the North Arm area leading to the construction of an extensive gravel road network. The last major exercise ended in 1972.
