NORTHERN DISTRICT (ISRAEL)
(Redirected from North District (Israel))
'North District', or 'Northern District' (Hebrew: מחוז הצפון, ''mehoz hatzafon''), is one of six administrative districts in Israel, with a land area of 3,324 km². (3,484 land and water), as well as 1,154 km² in the Golan Heights, bringing the total land area to 4,478 km². (4,638 total). The district capital and largest city is Nazareth.
The Golan Heights is administrated as a Sub-District that is part of the North District of Israel, although no country in the world recognizes the Golan Heights being part of Israel and the United Nations decided in a non-binding resolution that "the Israeli decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights is null and void" (United Nations Security Council Resolution 497).
