NORTH IDAHO COLLEGE
'North Idaho College' (NIC) is a comprehensive community college with over 4,000 students located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States, at the north end of Lake Coeur d'Alene.
Founded in 1933, NIC was the first community college created in Idaho and carries a variety of academic, professional-technical, and work force training courses. NIC. is located in the midst of the recreational and scenic North Idaho Panhandle.
NIC is one of only three comprehensive community colleges in Idaho. The College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls and The College of Western Idaho in Boise/Nampa are the others.
The college's journalism program is noted for its award-winning newspaper, ''The Sentinel''. In 2006 The Sentinel earned the title of Best All-Around Non-Daily Student Newspaper for non-daily newspapers from the Society of Professional Journalists. Other finalists included the University of Nevada and Auburn University.
The college is also noted for its Cardinals wrestling team which has earned 13 NJCAA national championships and 57 All-Americans, more than any other team in the NJCAA.
NIC is part of the Coeur d'Alene educational corridor which includes Lewis and Clark State College, University of Idaho, Idaho State University, and Boise State University.
NIC's academic programs are accredited by the NASC and the nursing program is accredited by the NLNAC.
