Once students reach the 9th grade they are registered at Layton High School, Northridge High School or Clearfield High School and may participate in the aforementioned sports, but still attend classes in the North Layton Jr. High buildings
The school has many extra-curricular activities that are not physical sports. These activities include Student Government, National Junior Honor Society, National Academic League, Science Olympiad, MESA, School Musicals, Advanced Choir, Jazz Band and Cheerleading
In 1995 Portable classrooms were added to the west and front of the school to accommodate growing class sizes.
A new wing was added in the year 2000 adjacent to the Gymnasium.
