'Notre Dame High School' (NDHS) in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California, is a co-ed Catholic college preparatory high school founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1947. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Notre Dame is known for an outstanding college-prep academic program, championship athletics, and award-winning fine arts program. NDHS has been honored by the United States Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools Program, and is especially known for its band and football team. Its newspaper is The Knight, a member of the High School National Ad Network. Until the fall of 1985, Notre Dame was an all-male school. It became coeducational when Corvallis High School, an all-girls school nearby, closed. The school colors are navy blue and gold and the teams are called the Knights.

Irish Knight Band


Notre Dame is famous for its Irish Knight Marching Band. The band, led by director John Combes, has performed in over 425 consecutive football games and has won several awards at prestigious band reviews. It is the oldest extra-curricular activity on campus. The Irish Knight Band is the host of the Sherman Oaks Band Review.

An episode of the Cable TV Series "Love Street" entitled ''Grading on a Curve'' was filmed on location at Notre Dame. The plot involved a student-teacher sexual relationship where simulated sex scenes occurred in the Riverside Building of the Catholic High School and possibly other areas at the school.
Episodes of the TV shows "The White Shadow" and "TJ Hooker" were also filmed at Notre Dame High School.
