NU1 ARAE

:''For other star systems with this Bayer designation, see Nu Arae.''
'Nu1 Arae' (Nu1 Arae / ν1 Ara / ν1 Arae) is a triple star system approximately 820 light years from the Earth. The primary component, ν1 Arae A, is an eclipsing binary of which both components are detached blue-white B-type main sequence dwarfs which do not fill their Roche lobes. A third companion, the 9th magnitude ν1 Arae C, orbits the binary with a separation of 12.3 arcseconds. The mean brightness of the system is +5.67, but because of the eclipses, ν1 Arae is a variable star and its brightness varies from magnitude +5.66 to +6.18 with a period equal to the orbital period of the binary, which is 3.17 days.
The system is sometimes referred as 'Upsilon1 Arae' (υ1 Arae).
