ν Centauri is a blue-white B-type subgiant with a mean apparent magnitude of +3.41. It is approximately 475 light years from Earth. It is classified as a Rotating ellipsoidal variable as well as a Beta Cephei type variable star and its brightness varies from magnitude +3.38 to +3.41 with a period of 2.62 days.
