![]() | El Damir El Arabie - {part 2/4} Middle Eastern Facts! -"Increased violence between Israelis and Palestinians resulted in a threefold increase in killings of Palestinians by Israeli forces. The number of Israelis killed by Palestinian armed groups diminished by half. More than 650 Palestinians, including some 120 children, and 27 Israelis were killed. Israeli forces carried out air and artillery bombardments in the Gaza Strip, and Israel continued to expand illegal settlements and to build a 700-km fence/wall on Palestinian land in the Occupied Territories."(Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian occupied territories) - "Israeli soldiers and settlers committed serious human rights abuses, including unlawful killings, against Palestinians, mostly with impunity." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian occupied territories) -"Some 650 Palestinians, half of them unarmed civilians and including some 120 children, were killed by Israeli forces." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian occupied territories) - "On 9 June, seven members of the Ghalia family - five children and their parents - were killed and some 30 other civilians were injured when Israeli forces fired several artillery shells at a beach in the north of the Gaza Strip. The beach was crowded with Palestinian families enjoying the first weekend of the school holidays. The Israeli army denied responsibility for the killings but failed to substantiate their claim." January 2002, a group of Israeli reserve officers and combat soldiers returned from their duty in the Gaza strip, and drafted a letter that would change they way Israelis conceive the military control of the occupied territories. ![]() | El Damir El Arabie - {part4/4} Middle Eastern Facts! - "Palestinians convicted of involvement in attacks against Israelis were usually sentenced to life imprisonment by Israeli military courts, whereas in the exceptional cases in which Israelis were convicted of killing or abusing Palestinians, Israeli courts imposed lenient sentences." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian Occupied Territories) "In a 34-day war in July-August between Hizbullah and Israel, about 1,200 Lebanese people were killed, hundreds of them children, and around one million were displaced by Israeli attacks. The attacks also destroyed tens of thousands of homes and much civilian infrastructure in Lebanon. At least 20 people were killed and scores injured by Israeli cluster munitions that remained after the conflict. Hizbullah launched missiles into Israel, causing the deaths of 43 civilians and damaging hundreds of buildings." (Amnesty International Lebanon) -"In the 34-day war which broke out on 12 July, after Hizbullah's military wing crossed into Israel and attacked an Israeli patrol, killing three Israeli soldiers and capturing two others. Israeli forces carried out air and artillery bombardments, killing nearly 1,200 people in Lebanon, including hundreds of children. Israeli forces also destroyed tens of thousands of homes and commercial properties, mostly in south Lebanon and in the suburbs of Beirut; and targeted and damaged main roads and bridges throughout the country. Hizbullah missiles fired into Israel caused the deaths of 43 civilians and damaged hundreds of buildings." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian Occupied Territories) - " In the final days of the war, after the terms of the ceasefire had been agreed, Israeli forces launched hundreds of thousands of cluster bombs containing up to 4 million bomblets into south Lebanon. The million or so unexploded bomblets that were left continued to kill and maim civilians long after the end of the war. Some 200 people, including tens of children, had been killed or injured by these bomblets and newly laid mines by the end of the year. Despite repeated requests, Israel did not provide detailed maps of the exact locations where its forces launched cluster bombs to the UN bodies mandated to clear unexploded ordnance." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian Occupied Territories) - "On 18 November, Tove Johansson, a 19-year-old Swedish human rights defender, was assaulted by Israeli settlers as she accompanied Palestinian school children through an Israeli army checkpoint near the Tel Rumeida Israeli settlement in the West Bank city of Hebron. She was struck with a broken bottle and sustained facial injuries. Israeli soldiers at a nearby checkpoint took no action to stop the attack or apprehend the perpetrators." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian Occupied Territories) - "In December the Supreme Court rejected a discriminatory law enacted the previous year that denies Palestinian victims compensation for abuses suffered at the hands of Israeli forces. However, impunity remained widespread for Israeli soldiers and settlers responsible for unlawful killings, ill-treatment and other abuses of human rights of Palestinians and attacks against their property. Investigations and prosecutions relating to such abuses were rare and usually only occurred when the abuses were exposed by human rights organizations and the media. By contrast, the Israeli authorities took a range of measures against Palestinians suspected of direct or indirect involvement in attacks against Israelis, including measures such as assassinations, physical abuse and collective punishment that violate international law." (Amnesty International Israel/Palestinian Occupied Territories) " Trials of Palestinians before military courts often did not meet international fair trial standards, with allegations of torture and other ill-treatment of detainees inadequately investigated. Hundreds of Palestinians were held in administrative detention without charge or trial; more than 700 were being held at the end of the year. Family visits to some 10,000 Palestinian prisoners were severely restricted as many of their relatives were denied visiting permits." ![]() | 12-21-07: Anti-Apartheid Jews+Muslims Confront Savage Thugs December 21, 2007 - Ramallah, Occupied Palestine -- Residents of a number of villages in the Ramallah area organized a protest joined by a number of International and Israeli peace activists at Highway 443 on Friday (12-21-2007) after the noon prayer. Protesters carried anti-racism, anti-apartheid & anti-ethnic cleansing signs and Palestinian flags. The marchers were protesting the apartheid policy of the Zionist regime which prohibits the native inhabitants of the occupied territories from using the road even though the road was built on the natives' lands that the Zionist regime captured by force in 1967 and has continuously occupied through use of military occupation force ever since then. The apartheid Zionist regime only allows Jews settlers to use the road to reach the settlements the apartheid regime has unlawfully been building on the occupied lands in direct violation of several United Nations resolutions. Almost all of the settlers in this area are not originally from the Middle East region and have been imported in from Europe, Russia, and North America as part of the apartheid & ethnic cleansing policies of the Israeli government. Apartheid Zionist thugs (the so-called Israeli security forces) installed barbed wire in the path of the peaceful marchers in an attempt to prevent the protesters from reaching the highway. However, the protestors managed to reach the road. As shown on this video clip, the criminal Zionist thugs then began to indiscriminately and savagely attack, assault, and beat up the defenseless and unarmed protestors, including the children. These anti-human armed criminal thugs (funded & armed by U.S. "aid" of $3,000,000,000.00 (three billion U.S. dollars) annually to the apartheid Zionist regime) then began to fire into the crowd of protestors even though, as the video evidence shows, the protestors were clearly unarmed & peaceful. As part of its apartheid-based policies in conducting ethnic cleansing of the natives of the occupied territories, the Zionist regime has prevented the natives to use this 200-mile road for the past seven (7) years. Palestinian villagers are not allowed to use this road even in case of a medical emergency. It's clear that many Palestinians in dire need of emergency medical care have died as part of this racist policy aimed at conducting ethnic cleansing of the natives. The Jewish settlers and new immigrants of the occupied territories are free to use the above road at any time they want. http://www.ifamericansknew.org/ http://www.ifamericansknew.org/stats/un.html http://pamolson.org/ArtApartheid.htm http://www.geocities.com/savepalestinenow/unresolutions/studyguide/sgunres1e.html http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?ItemID=2417 http://www.jatonyc.org/UNresolutions.html http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=19495&Cr=leban&Cr1 http://www.un.org/apps/news/storyAr.asp?NewsID=10631&Cr=lebanon&Cr1 http://domino.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/fd807e46661e3689852570d00069e918/5ec98112a7901b5885256f460068f431!OpenDocument http://domino.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/59c118f065c4465b852572a500625fea/c385e846813a50f48525729000651a51!OpenDocument http://www.fpif.org/commentary/2002/0210unres.html http://www.hrw.org/press98/may/isra0515.htm http://www.geocities.com/savepalestinenow/unresolutions/studyguide/sgunres1g.html |

In addition, Israel has ceased issuing visitor's permits, which enabled families to live together legally in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. As a result of the freeze policy, tens of thousands of foreign spouses of Palestinians, mostly women, have faced a cruel choice: leave the Occupied Territories and not be allowed to return to their spouses and children, or stay illegally, without a status and under constant threat of deportation, making them prisoners in their own villages and homes. www.btselem.org |
![]() | Landoccupieday2 from RealXone Event and Places- Meaning of occupied: Occupied territories is a term of art in international law to refer to the condition of territory under the military control of a sovereign power. Acquisition of occupied territories is incidental to a war, where the military forces of the occupying power come into the possession of territories previously held by another state. Military occupation is usually temporary; pending the signing of a peace treaty, the resolution of specific conditions outlined in a peace treaty, the annexation of the territory by the occupying power, or the formation of a new government. Military occupation and the laws of war ----- There have long been customary laws of belligerent occupation as part of the laws of war which gave some protection to the population under the military occupation of a belligerent power.
